A growing business could always do with more support. Trying to grow and strengthen your company on your own is admirable –but even the most skilled business proprietors cannot do everything, singlehandedly. You risk personal exhaustion and running your business into the ground, when you try to go it alone. And, your efforts to scrimp and save on finances might be all for naught.
It is perhaps safe to say that the majority, if not all, of the biggest corporations today got to where they are as a result of some form of partnership which helped to create stability and propel growth.
Apple, for instance, would likely not have flourished without the visionary thinking of Jobs and the technical prowess of Wozniak; Google would not be Google without technological know-how of Brin and Page; and Microsoft would possibly not have been a monumental success if Gates did not have Ballmer and Allen. These industry moguls supported each other; and, because of that, they were able to handle different aspects of the business – and handle these properly.
How Far Can You Go?
The support you need for your business will depend on its current capacity and areas of strength or weakness, but there is an array of options available to you. Among these options, and one which you should consider, at the very onset, is customer and tech support, which is of prime importance, especially on today’s landscape. Virtual assistance gets the job done, minus the internal headaches. You can outsource the task; and, if you do, it can only be good for the business. As you grow, so do your areas of focus and responsibilities within the company. By the time you find yourself pondering VA, you are probably already handling multiple training schedules, management duties, marketing, and then some. It is very possible – probable, even –that you will run out of time and manpower to do other things.
Business support does not end at inbound assistance because, as per BPO Heroes, you can also outsource a range of different tasks. Billing, HR and data entry are at the top of most companies’ wish lists. It is not the easiest task to find competent accounting personnel, and your HR should focus solely on the priority of hiring the right people. As for data entry, it is time-consuming, tedious work that you need not do yourself. You can just outsource it, so you can put your staff’s efforts to better use.
If service, however, is not top on the list or needs of your company’s priorities, outsourced support is still an option for you. Delegating tasks such as research and data mining, marketing and various specialist services could free up valuable time within your company. Additionally, these are niche fields; and as such, it is better to entrust the job to those who have already been trained in these areas. Having to train employees to do these tasks is a significant cost-eater, should you choose to carry these duties out on your own.
The Trust Factor
As the owner, you probably have felt even the slightest twinge of doubt, in important decisions or deals you have made. After all, as beneficial as the decision or the deal may have been for your company, it is still about trusting another entity for the sake of an undertaking – your undertaking. Trust is invaluable, and it is not something that everyone has earned. Give it to the right people, and you will be outpacing your projected growth. Do not give it to anyone and you will end up doing everything yourself. Give it to the wrong people, and you may end up with regret. Success is a cycle, but failure also recycles, if you keep doing the wrong things. So, it’s time to make the right decisions, for the sake of your business.
Maybe one day, in the future, it would be possible to run your business, alone. Full automation may be alive and well, by then, and once machine learning becomes a tool of use outside of tech companies, then you would be able to efficiently handle multiple tasks. For now, though, do not overextend your capacity, or that of your employees. Do not overexert your business’ current capabilities – get the support you need to go to the next level.
